Holy Than Thou Media & its other dark side!!!

Justice Katju had once commented upon the need for media to stop sensationalizing news and stick to the truth. He wanted media to be made accountable, and when we go through that happened last few years in media against IIT Kharagpur, even we feel that he is too correct. Today media has reached a point where they believe more in ‘trial by media & pronounced guilty’. They don’t believe in letting public to perceive and report only the facts. As for reporting false news, there’s nothing you can do except for filing defamation suits and keeping in view our great legal system, even god would have no answer to when the ‘victim of media’ would get the justice.

Let us show you how a systemic campaign to malign the reputation of IIT Kharagpur and few people from this institute, was carried on by media. There were few elements from this very institute who worked in tandem with the media, we’ll show all that and leave it upon you to come to your conclusion. We’ll gather & explain all information collected to show the nexus between few media personals and a sole person from IIT Kharagpur out on a vendetta.

Case 1:

Pricy laptop case reporting by media

Here is the links to the articles & their counter replies by us.

1st article we showed all documents of transaction between Rajeev Kumar & the IIT administration. 2ndarticle shows documents provided by HT were not complete. They tried to put out partial information suppressing portions that are inconvenient to their own news. And in the second article we showed and proved this whole set of documents were provided by none other than Prof Kumar himself.

Case 2:

Rampant Cheating Case

The article links and counters to the same have been posted here.

Again we find reporters going ahead with posting news which they got from a source without even trying to do any research. They get inputs from someone and decide to go on a trail and declare the institute guilty. Completely false information like claiming that IIT Kharagpur allows student to choose any seat during examination is put out. Question arises who gave them all these information? The whole charge seems to be coming from Proof Rajeev Kumar so logical deduction is he being the informer. Yes he denied the same but then the next logical question that comes is ‘why didn’t he then do anything to stop these reporters’.

Case 3:

IIT Kharagpur and so called “Tech theft” by our media.

Again a campaign to malign the names of few individual from IIT Kharagpur and the institute itself was taken up by media. Check these links and then let me show how cleverly the game was played by them.

Detailed rebuttal on these articles can be check here.

But let me show you something interesting that’ll give even a layman some idea of foul play being done.

Check the 1st two articles. Both are by THE same portal. The author changes the Title of the article, removes his name in the 2ndand goes along with just TNN and POSTS SAME ARTICLE TWICE, ON THE SAME DAY WITH A LITTLE GAP IN TIMINGS. Why was this done? What was the need for the same portal to post same article twice? Economics time is also of the same group but we give them the benefit of doubt as it’s a different wing altogether.

What general public had no knowledge about was the fact that these articles were pushed so hard by the reporters just at a time when the final hearing of the same case was coming up at Calcutta High Court. Were there any malicious intentions behind this act by the reporter?

And what the reporter next makes sure not to write about is the judgment of the case. Check the link below.

The court clearly bars the software company use of the software. Akshaya Mukul, who takes lot of pain to report a lot about IIT Kharagpur (search through his profile at times site) does not even bother to report this news do bring questions as to his intentions. Questions arises more when you see the list of his articles, they all have been ALWAYS anti IIT Kharagpur.

Though we can never connect this story getting published by Akshaya Mukul and Prof Kumar’s role but what do bring questions in our mind is the fact that Prof Kumar is going on maligning the institute and people connected to this case repeatedly.

Case 4:

Freedom of speech curb on all who posted in favour of IIT Kharagpur, by the media.

Isn’t it the media who is always shouting for freedom of speech? When Justice Katju mentioned about the need for laws to see that media don’t indulge in wrong doing, it was the media now up in arms against the man. Similarly when govt started deliberating on taking action against anti govt articles/spoofs/similar, it was again the media who lambasted the govt for the same.

Let us now show you all how they themselves behaved with many readers, it was nothing but a direct attack on freedom of speech of general public. The three links below would show how two specific news portal posted articles against IIT Kharagpur, and many readers made comments refuting all the charges made by the reporter. The portal after sometime deleted ALL comments. We have here proof of their act.

Why was this done? With what motive? Readers can go through all the comments posted here which got deleted and decide themselves – Do they deserved to be deleted, or is it that because the comments were painting the true story which were inconvenient to their own article motive that they decided to remove those?

Case 5:

Rajeev Kumar & Media

You just need to visit the blog eklavya06 and check all articles that have been archived there related to Prof Kumar issue. You’ll get to see an interesting trend. Just as shown in case #3 above, the same material has been posted repeatedly in the media at different intervals. Too many times it has been the same few selected journalists posting the articles. Early articles were simply read through but later it was found there was an interesting trend that is being followed for the same. Whenever there was a hearing of his case (he has too many in too many courts), or hearing of the judicial inquiry at IIT Kharagpur or BOG meeting to decide his future, these selected journalists would put up an article repeating the same things, glorifying the prof while making sure to hide the facts that could be inconvenient for his case. Not that we are claiming this to be happening, we are just making our point as to what we saw happening, which caught our attention!

Case 6:

The coalnet issue

This has become the new issue for few selected journalists currently and just for all readers’ information – Most of these journalists are the same who advocate Rajeev Kumar issue repestedly whenever any hearing of his comes up. Disclaimer: Not that we are saying both the issues are interlinked. We are simply informing our readers of this “Innocent” fact.

Too many articles on the issue are flying around but first we’ll take up just one, which is telling a blatant lie. A detailed analysis of all such articles has already been given here in this blog. (http://purabspeaks.blogspot.in/2013/03/the-pioneer-connection.html)

The article starts with this line – “In a first of its kind, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has asked the HRD Ministry to dismiss three IIT professors — including IIT-Patna Director and the Dean of the prestigious IIT-Kharagpur — from service.”

All other articles on this issue wrote that CVC recommended “minor penalty” against this Prof, the director elect. (As for CVC and its role here, we’ll take it up in our next post & show our readers how clean and unbiased they themselves are. Indian public need to know in details about such constitutional bodies and the murky games they play.) And this reporter comes up with a sensualizing title to attract the attention of readers. How far ethical journalism is he following???? Mr Deepak Kumar Jha is the recent journalist added to the previous couple who have now started maligning IIT Kharagpur. Incidentally, this journalist is also a great friend of Prof Rajiv Kumar. Isn’t that a sweet co-incidence!!!

Case 7:

Check this.

http://www.ebela.in/details/6195-31326734.html

It’s related to news that came in the regional newspaper “Ebela”. They came out with complete false news that West Bengal education dept is considering removal of current director elect of IIT Kharagpur from both, the Higher Education Panel of WB & the Deans selection Panel at Jadavpur Univ. True fact being, Govt of WB is planning no such steps. Infact the said prof has already completed his duty as panel member at Jadavpur Univ and submitted the report to the VC there. Bengali news daily “Ananda Bazaar Patrika” themselves came out with the same news.

Did we tell you, Ebela is run by the same AMP group!!! How can two dailies of the same newspaper give out such contradictory articles!!!

Conclusions and questions to ponder upon:

  1. Journalists to us seem unbiased. Journalism need to be ethical. Yet we find few who indulge into “Yellow Journalism” targeting some organization or few individual.

  2. To do proper research before putting out an article, especially of taking views of other side and put out balanced news is the last thing few journalists believe in doing.

  3. Question arise in our mind, why do they give a blind support to some particular individual while targeting others even after being shown true facts!! Disclaimer: We don’t want to speculate and say these journalists come up with this news as they got some special benefit from that particular individual.

  4. Why did they indulge in putting out articles showing just few facts while hiding some other truths especially those which could have been very inconvenient for Prof Kumar?

  5. Till date why didn’t any journalist put out an article telling about the reprimand court gave to Prof Kumar?

  6. A foreign company tells them few lies and without even getting the facts how can they out a story lambasting an Institute of their own country?

  7. Final question and the most alarming thought for us – Is it so simple as “Yellow Journalism” against IIT Kharagpur and its few honest people or is there a much bigger story behind all this mud-slinging going on?

Cheers and have a good day till we come back with our next "Holy Than Thou" organisation - The constitutional body CVC!!

Rampant cheating at IIT Kharagpur - The true facts.

This article is to deal on mass copying charge made by again Prof Rajeev Kumar and flashed across all national daily.

http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/NewDelhi/Crowded-IIT-helps-cheats/Article1-633257.aspx

http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2010-12-29/india/28223312_1_t-k-ghosal-copying-examination

A detailed rebuttal and fact on the same has been posted here. (LINK) But let us also give few facts, without getting into too much details to show why this news is intended to malign the institute and not true.

Quote from news #2:

"What makes copying easier is the fact that IIT-Kharagpur does not have any provision of allotting a seat to a student during an examination. A student is free to choose any seat allotted for the subject."

A blatant lie that is put here by the reporter. Did he even try to do any research before putting up this fact. Before examination each and every student is allocated seats and none allowed to sit on their own whim.

Till date Prof Kumar could not give any proof or explanation on this so called "rampant" copying. The true fact being if anyone goes through the senate meeting minutes, would get to see how every copying case is dealt with strictly. The reporters never tried to even cross check this fact.

Reporters had to just ask Mr Kumar about the number of cheating cases reported till date by HIM and they would have got some interesting information. Mr Kumar has been invigilating for years at IIT Kharagpur. And till date NOT A SINGLE CASE OF CHEATING HAS BEEN REPORTED BY RAJEEV KUMAR AT IIT KHARAGPUR. Yet he claims there's RAMPANT cheating in the institute!!!

When you read through the other LINK, you get to know more in details what his replies had been during interrogation by the IIT Administration.

BTW this is for the reporters. You all got the feed from Mr Kumar and decided to go ahead with the article. Let me show you what his reaction would be if tomorrow you get confronted with the same. Let us post a section from a mail sent by Mr Kumar to investigating administers below and you'll see how he is going to wash his hands off. You'll be left with no source to claim for this news item. Whole email chain has already been produced at different investigation and hence now available to many.

From your covering letter, it appears that the news item, in Page-4, refers to the opinion of me. As during the Senate meeting on 27/12/10, I denied ever talking to the reporter, I hereby again categorically deny that I ever talked to the reporter.

In the last para of the same email, he again lies of being threatened. We have the whole chain of emails that happened in this discussion. Not once did any administrator threatened him. Infact they all have been talking to him in the most polite language simply asking queries. Maybe asking queries fall under "Threat" for Mr Kumar!! Let us show the last part now and disect the same.

I wish to state and re-iterate I have been threatened, many times in the past, by some of the top institute administrators who felt exposed due to my work, as a whistleblower. This may be one other attempt by those people who feel threatened of being exposed due to the issues of conflicts of interests, recently raised by me. Needless to say, I have been tenaciously working for strengthening and reforming systems, in particular IIT Kharagpur, by transparency and accountability.

Coming to the underlined red part of this mail, Mr Kumar states that he is working to reform all systems. Just one query that comes to our mind Mr Kumar.

How come you never worked to find the Rampant Copying or any such anomalies at your Son's institute, Jadavpur Univ?? I am sure he must have told you about that institute and how clean the same was during that era. If you were so concerned about cleaning the system, why be so selective and target ONLY IIT Kharagpur that too with false claims.

Signing off for today and leaving all you to ponder on few questions.

1. Cheating during examination is there in each and every examination across the world. But at IIT Kharagpur whenever they were caught, strict actions have been taken. Senate meeting minutes would show all this fact. Why didn't reporters try getting hold of the same to come to this conclusion??

2. Mr Rajeev Kumar claimed of rampant copying but how come he himself NEVER caught any single cheating cases though he has been invigilating for years now. Infact he even has been chief invigilator once yet no case was caught by him.

Cheers all, have a good day!!!

Few Court Cases for all to read and ponder!

In this article let us show you all how Prof Rajeev Kumar hand in glove with few media personal pass out selective information to the Indian public. Read through these articles. They all say the same, that Supreme Court had called Prof Kumar as the "Unsung Hero". Do check the dates of the articles.

http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2011-10-13/india/30274714_1_official-cutoffs-cutoff-procedure-jee-candidates

http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/NewDelhi/Top-court-calls-IIT-whistleblower-prof-an-unsung-hero/Article1-756607.aspx

Even the well known Eklavyajee blog (popular belief being its run by Prof Kumar himself), had put up the articles.

http://eklavyajee06.blogspot.in/2011/10/sc-iit-whistleblower-unsung-hero-in.html

All these pertain to the case which was disposed off by Supreme Court on 11th Oct 2011. Let me now show you all the court order which was passed by SC.

http://courtnic.nic.in/supremecourt/temp/sc%201349510p.txt

What these articles NEVER mentioned that SC dismissed the case filed by Prof Kumar on behalf of his son Mr Sanchit Bansal.

" But    there    is    no    ground    for       that    Courts    to interfere with the procedure, even if it was not accurate or efficient, in the absence of malafides or arbitrariness or violation of law. It is true that if in JEE 2006, a different or better process had been adopted, or the process now in vogue had been adopted, the results would have been different and the first appellant might have obtained a seat. But on that ground it is not possible to impute malafides or arbitrariness, or grant any relief to the first appellant. Therefore, the appellant will have to be satisfied in being one of the many unsung heroes who helped in improving the system."

Yes no second question that he did make the JEE system better and a hero for the same, but no where we find anything that suggest SC had actually HAILED him high as a Hero, as our media seem to be suggesting. Why do they have to be selective while reporting Mr Kumar's case? They never seem to even give a thought to recheck/confirm with other party when Rajeev Kumar give them any info, and go ahead with detailed false reporting. Then why not the full truth in the case of Rajeev Kumar????

Case -2

Now here's another case that was filed by the Professor and has now been disposed off. This case if from Delhi High Court, year 2010. No media took the pain, or maybe just looked sideways, in reporting this case.

http://www.indiankanoon.org/doc/253540/

Just a small part of the judgement as passed by Hon Judge.

Page 4 of 5 - "Ordinarily, we would have saddled the petitioner with exemplary cost of more than five figures but keeping in view the fact that he is a young man and seems to be misguided in filing this type of litigation in the name of public interest, we refrain from imposing cost. At the same time, we hope and trust that the learned counsel representing the petitioner will be more discreet in future and avoid filing of such type of litigation, disposal of which has consumed substantial time of the Court which could have been utilized for deciding other cases."

So Dear Mr Kumar's media friends, it do raises lot of question on your work ethics.

For readers, do ponder and think if all that media is telling about Rajeev Kumar is true or not. Ponder if they are reporting the whole matter or is it just the partial truth being shown, draped in such a way that it projects Mr Kumar in a good light.

Have a good day,

Oh did we tell you of the fact that Prof Kumar filed cases against JEE practices against IITJEE twice. Want to know when? It was done twice, first when his son could not crack JEE and he wanted him to get it done through court (as shown in the above cases) and second time again in 2010, just when his daughter failed to get through. That do tells a lot, does it not????

Cheers!!!

Threats followed by Lies by Rajeev Kumar against IIT Kharagpur.

Threats, well its a term that has been used by Prof Rajeev Kumar too many times. After the JEE bust he did, he made some great contacts in the media and used that to pass on his own messages to public. And to get Indian public sympathy, to show them how he is getting victimised, (maybe this was done more to hide his own mistakes) he went on crying about his own safety. As to how he was being threatened by IIT administration. IIT already had too many proofs against him, so why would they even care to threaten him? They already had the power to take action against him which finally they did when it was found how with false allegations he was maligning the institute.

And what to say about the threats his media friends passed on others who differed with their views?? Check this article and see how the journalists of this article threatened few only because they were speaking out against them. Is that how journalism works? Lets leave that part aside for sometime, journos part would be taken up later. For now first check this. Respectable journalists indulging in threatening readers just because they did not agree to their views.

http://www.moneylife.in/article/irregularities-in-iit-jee-will-the-new-hrd-minister-offer-justice-to-this-tenacious-whistleblower/29436.html

Question that comes to our mind is who really can threaten him? He has a lawyer like Bhushan to support him. He has contacts in media which he can use any moment to malign someone.

Interestingly there are proofs where Prof Rajeev Kumar himself had threatened. Infact he does it many times, using cleverly crafted words in mails (we have come across a mail of his during the period of IIT Delhi Professor's interview where he is threatening one of the panel member cunningly).

Well now to come to the main point, he threatened IIT Kharagpur Dean of Postgraduate Studies to ‘rescue’ himself. When this charge was put against him, Kumar ingenuously claimed that “what he wanted to write was ‘recuse’. This ‘honest error’ of transformation of ‘recuse’ to ‘rescue’ was due to the ‘Autocorrect and auto-spell checking’ policy of MS Word!!! It is therefore not his fault and he may be kindly excused.” His admirers naturally gave in to this argument. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating thereof. An actual test for this was carried out. Please see the screen shot from MS Word.

Well Well Well Prof Kumar, sorry to say but the alternatives do not show rescue as an option!!

So isn't it evident that what Kumar says is bogus!!

Rajeev Kumar and his habit of Slandering others!

There is a common knowledge about another blog (LINK HERE), of being run by Prof Rajeev Kumar himself. Here's a disclaimer : Though its a very common knowledge the blog Eklavya JEE is run by and owned by Rajeev Kumar, we have no proof whatsoever so won't say conclusively about the same.

Now to get back to this article.

If someone visits the blog, he can find the author has posted many articles, copy pasting them from internet medias. No harm in that. But few articles can be found where many honoured person have been defamed. For example, the scan below, its a part of one article on his blog. Click on this link to see full image.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiugfVR92Zm2JxrW3KQPJc-VPV-QS1JSpzn_x0YXd6gDNxOWU7GzECVUhz9Ahw_HFRIEuBGm5ATO6YUxlv93BBqJFhsM0D3WrhIEAaOCdsIt7DbeOlYjThrWVJURk9DwDgpIn9VxNvZut84/s1600/Eklavya-Blog.jpg

We'll not get into any speculation if the author is Prof Rajeev Kumar or not. But we do have some proof that shows a mail of Prof Rajeev Kumar and yes, he did indulge in slandering as far as we can make out. Do read the mail below and decide for yourself if this not slandering then what is???

Email from Rajeev Kumar while Visiting IIT Kanpur to J P Gupta of JIIT trying to

influence candidature of Dube and Kripa Shankar for IIT-R. J P Gaur was the person they were
trying to influence as he was an important member of selection committee. Ask some other
members of the committee:

Pricy Laptop IIT Kharagpur proof by HT sounds too hollow!

Hello readers,

Last post here (LINK) we showed you about how Hindustan Times published a false news about IIT Kharagpur while making lot of false charges against few individuals of the institute. Today we show you how Hindustan Times was manipulated by Rajeev Kumar, though onus still lies with HT for not getting in touch with IIT administration to get the true picture.

Check this article on HT where the reporter of the earlier article Mr Charusudan posted all the documents that he had with him to come to the conclusion.

http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/NewDelhi/Clarification-on-IIT-Kharagpur-pushing-pricey-laptops/Article1-670478.aspx

We downloaded the documents and checked. We found lot of documents being interpreted in a wrong manner while some even absent from the lot. We ask readers to download the pdf and keep it open for reference.

1. The whole set of document does NOT carry the most important document in this whole case, the Hyderabad quote document which implicates him with the fact that he wanted the laptop to be delivered to his son at Hyderabad. Also that document shows he submitted a quote to IIT Kharagpur which was valid for just ONE Day. We posted the same in our previous article (Document 4). Here's the link to the scan document. (IMAGE LINK). If this supposed to "All Document" as being said by HT, where is the above document? That do brings a question to our mind, how can we believe the above documents are complete, maybe more still might be there which could be against the professor's interest so HT is keeping it away from public eye.

2. The document set downloaded has a list - Annexure - II (Page 3). This is being shown as the "Rate Chart" by HT reporter to the public. But read the subject of the Annexure. It clearly say - EMPANELMENT OF LAPTOPS. Is the reporter aware of difference between an "Empanelment" list and "Rate Chart" list? This list with that title clearly shows is a bidding list for empanelment who gave the lowest quote. To produce it was the Rate Chart, how correct is that on the reporters part?

3. No single document shows IIT administration is asking or "Forcing" the professor to buy at higher price.

4. The professor through the reporter claims the laptop was being taken under CPDA Empanelment order. Why did he then send the purchase order to SRIC. Every IIT has SRIC structured unit and they are no way involved with CPDA purchase, they deal with only Project Purchases. If he needed laptop in that scheme, why didn't he send a CPDA requisition?

5. A purchase requisition for projects are sent to SRIC. Check the letter from SRIC to the professor in the previous article and even in this lot. (Image LINK). The Dean seem to be telling the professor clearly in no short terms that the CPDA empanelment order was NOT applicable for purchase of laptop for projects. And from his letter another message we can gather - The professor seem to be Insisting SRIC to follow the same CPDA purchase rules while buying laptop for projects.

6. As yet the reporter has not shown any proof that the professor followed the basic purchase procedure which is followed in every govt purchase. There is no document showing he made more than 2 quotes, which is the normal procedure, and he could have been easily sanctioned the lowest quote laptop. Why did he go on insisting his single quote be sanctioned even after repeated request from all concerned parties in the administration?

7. And the most funny part of this whole document set supposed to be a proof against IIT Kharagpur administration. In his conclusion part he substantiates his finding while comparing two laptops, both of different models - Dell M4500 and Dell XPS. The first thing any journalist would have done here was to cross check with dell about the two models to know the facts about their rates. All are aware of the fact that Dell M4500 is a much superior model than Dell XPS. To let the readers know about a fact - Dell was contacted by IIT Kharagpur and they clarified about the same while defending the different rates of the two model.

When you go through all these pointers, its now upon you get your take on this whole episode. Was the reporter doing this deliberately? What gain does the reporter has to malign IIT Kharagpur reputation? Or is he trying to do so at the behest of the professor (for reasons unknown)? Or is it that he really had less knowledge about the technical facts and got duped by the professor?

After going through all the above facts we come to a simple conclusion - the Pricy Laptop Issue to malign IIT Kharagpur, as projected by the journalist and Professor Rajeev Kumar, is a false bogus issue.

Now to come to the most interesting part of this whole maligning campaign. After downloading the document from the HT site, we did a checking on its properties. Viola! Do see who the Author of the said document is in the scan image below (Click on the image to see enlarged).

We leave it now upon readers to decide on a simple question - Don't you feel that Prof Rajeev Kumar is in fact deeply involved in acts of maligning the reputation of this institute!!!

Signing off for today with the screen shot with the hope - Truth would surely prevail. Cheers!!

Pricy laptop pushing by IIT Kharagpur true story!

We now come to another anomaly reported by the media against IIT Kharagpur and few of its administrators. This generated lot of ruckus in IIT kharagpur circle.

The news article - http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/NewDelhi/IIT-Kharagpur-pushing-pricey-laptops/Article1-659087.aspx

Let me now show the other side of the same with documented proofs. (Each documents provided can be clicked to get more clear enlarged view)

The article states "The correspondence shows the IIT administration had asked senior computer science professor Rajeev Kumar to either purchase the laptop under the institute rates, or not purchase it at all. “We are only insisting that institute-determined rates are followed in the purchase. The institute rates are official, those obtained by individual faculty members are not,” an  administrator said."

Let me show the document from the administration and show what EXACTLY administration told Prof Rajeev Kumar.

Document -1 :This is the first communication with Rajeev Kumar  on his request for the laptop.

Now to come with the next communication with Rajeev Kumar on 22 Dec 2010
Document -2

In the scan document above read the line underlined red. Isn't the administration telling the PI (Rajeev Kumar in this case) clearly that there is NO "Rate Contract".

Now lets read through the blue underlined part. Aren't we all aware of this basic rule in govt procurement that single quotations are not valid. You need to give more than one quotation, the numbers depend upon as per that particular organisation rules, and the lowest one is sanctioned. IIT administration seems to have clearly pointed out this discrepancy to the PI and asked him to submit documents as per IIT norms, which incidentally is followed by any govt organisation.

Now for the final document which was sent to the PI cancelling his laptop order.

Document - 3

Again when we see the document, its clear that the PI is told about "No available rate Contract" for purchase of laptop (Red underlined part). Infact the administrator asked him to follow all purchase rules as per IIT Kharagpur. The rules states that he need to submit more than one quotation and not single. If he felt his requisition carried the lowest quotation for the specific laptop, what stopped him from providing other quotations? Rule states any purchase requisition made should need to be recommended by the Purchase Committee Chairman. Check document -2 (Green Underlined part) and you'll get the PI was requested to get this passed by the Purchase Committee Chairman. Yet he ignores the request. The most conclusive deduction that can be formed from this, the PI himself wants IIT Kharagpur to flout purchase rules in his particular case.

Few more documents released by IIT Kharagpur in a complaint to the HT Editor and also its own faculty show more discrepancies with this order. Below is the Del Quotation that Rajeev Kumar obtained and submitted to IIT Kharagpur while submitting his requisition for the laptop.

Document - 4 :The DELL Quotation for the laptop as submitted by Rajeev Kumar to IIT Kharagpur

The two portion that brought attention to IIT Kharagpur administration have been marked by red and blue circles.

Check the red circled part. Which govt office allows purchase of things at the organisation while shipping made at another destination, in another town, completely out of the organisation administrative area. You place an order at Kharagpur IIT and ask IIT to deliver the product at Hyderabad, is that according to rules of any govt purchase norms?

Now coming to the blue circle. Order valid for - 1 days. Have you ever seen a purchase quotation being submitted where the validity period of the quotations given is for just 1 day? No purchase committee would pass such a requisition for the very fact that even if all paper work gets completed in one day and order placed next, the rates may vary.

It is now upon the readers to come to conclusion as to what really is happening.

  1. Is it that the PI here is forcing IIT Kharagpur to NOT follow rules in his case? If yes then why, cause he is a whistleblower and should be given this exclusive treatment?
  2. Or is it a meticulously planned issue where the PI is making sure to get the order cancelled so as to take up the issue in the media and tarnish the Institutes image?
  3. Or maybe it is a murky plan where some/one specific individual from the IIT administration is targeted to tarnish his/her image and reputation?

I leave the conclusion for the readers to come out with.

By the way, IIT Kharagpur administration did stumble upon a very interesting point during the process of investigation. The requisition made by Rajeev Kumar with DELL quotations (Document - 4) had a phone number where this laptop is to be delivered. The number 8008299686, official inquiries were made as to who this belongs to. The phone number belongs to Mr Sanchit Bansal, Microsoft India Pvt Ltd. We are given to understand that Prof Rajeev Kumar's son's name is Mr Sanchit Bansal. And during the period when this requisition was made, Mr Sanchit Bansal, son of Prof Rajeev Kumar was employed at Microsoft India Pvt Ltd and placed at Microsoft Campus, Hyderabad.

Phone Bill copy of the phone number 8008299686

Interesting must say!!!

Cheers and have a good day.

Prof Rajeev Kumar, the 'supposedly' whistle blower.

Our new post would be touching upon a whistle blower. Dr Rajeev Kumar, IIT professor started this journey of whistle blower after his son failed to crack the IITJEE. He worked tenaciously and finally showed the court how IITs were flouting rules in IITJEE. There were lot of anomalies in the test and due to his petition those got rectified. IITJEE system and future students sitting for the exam would always thank him for the same.

Unfortunately after this success he somehow lost his way. He started finding anomalies in everything. His main target was IIT Kharagpur. (P:S: He had requested IIT Kharagpur to give his son admission after he won the case, which IIT Kharagpur refused. Just to let readers know, the whole maligning campaign against this IIT by Prof Rajeev Kumar started after the same). There are instances where his actions shows a very distinct personal vindictive nature. We'll touch upon all his actions in separate articles as there are many and we don't want readers to get confused.

In this post let us show you all an issue related to IPR.

To grab credit unethically of research papers is a fraud which is not taken in good view by anyone. We have proof to show he did just that.

The original paper was submitted as follows:

Code Compression for Performance Enhancement of Variable
Length Embedded Processors
RAJEEV KUMAR, DIPANKAR DAS, M. SREENIVASULU, S. S. GUPTA and P. P. CHAKRABARTI
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur

After revision the paper was resubmitted as follows.

Code Compression for Performance Enhancement of Variable Length Embedded Processors
RAJEEV KUMAR and DIPANKAR DAS
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur

No one else (including other co-authors) knew the authors list that was finally submitted and how it was done. Information for the same is now obtained by students after corresponding with the journal editorial office to highlight the fraud committed. The paper has since been published in ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems with only two authors. Rajeev Kumar simply removed names of two students and one colleague without even informing them. Other authors were not even told that a review report came. Complete credit and IPR was grabbed for this work depriving others. The other student author, being a PhD candidate had apparently no say and was given the impression that everything was taken care of which he realized later was wrong. (The last part, concerned PhD student has confirmed).

He tells the world how he was victimized and his IPR grabbed. But we find the story is different. Its actually he who is doing the same.

We leave readers to now decide if this act falls under fraud or not.

Cheers!

Prashant Bhushan & Shanti Bhushan under scanner

All of us are aware of Anna Hazare and his fight against corruption. The whole movement frizzled out after Aravind Kejriwal decided to go for politics. Lot of questions got raised against Aravind Kejriwal and his & his team, especially Bhushan's political aspirations. But all those were speculations.

Here in this first post let us show bit about the Bhushans. They are fighting a battle against corruption and corrupt practices. People of India saw them standing beside Anna and took it for granted of their honesty. But later it was revealed they themselves were not as clean as they projected.

Case 1:

The CD controversy case of Shanti Bhushan. There are many news article for the same but to refresh your memory, here's one of the links.

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/controversial-cd-on-team-anna-member-shanti-bhushan-genuine-delhi-police/839210/0

http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2011-08-31/india/29948614_1_shanti-bhushan-cd-cfsl-delhi-prashant-bhushan

Prashant Bhushan did get his own testing lab check the CD and declared they reported the CD to be doctored. That is the explanation they gave to Indian public. So do we take it that if tomorrow any of us get indicted, we can get our own investigation done and then declare ourselves clean. What makes the whole explanation more bizarre sounding is the fact that Amar Singh himself confirmed about the conversation.

Case 2:

Noida farm 'gifted' by Mayawati lands Shanti Bhushan in fresh row.

http://news.worldsnap.com/politics/shanti-bhushan-defends-land-controversy-102855.html

Quotes from articles that do raise eyebrows :-

"A fresh controversy brews around a huge farmland owned by a son of former Union minister Shanti Bhushan. Apparently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati had gifted the 10,000 square metre plot of land in Noida."

"In his declaration of assets last week, Shanti Bhushan mentioned a 10,000 square metre farmland plot in Noida. He however did not mention how the Mayawati government allotted the plot to his lawyer son Jayant Bhushan in a discretionary manner earlier this year."

"This 10,000 sq.m. of farmland allegedly received at less than a quarter of its market price, raises a conflict of interest question as Bhushan had appeared against the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister in the Noida statue park case, media reports said.
The matter was dug out as part of a petition filed in the Allahabad High Court by disgruntled former Additional Solicitor General Vikas Singh, who complained of being allotted “one of the worst pieces of land”". "

Case 3:

Evading tax duty.

http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/team-anna-s-shanti-bhushan-found-guilty-of-evading-1-3-crores-of-property-taxes-164319

Quote from article :-

"The Assistant of Stamp Duty in Allahabad, Dr K P Pandey, said  Mr Bhushan has been found guilty of evading stamp duty. The property and related taxes had been grossly under-valued, he said."

Case 4:

Prashant Bhushan flouted land laws to buy land in Himachal.

http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/what-about-prashant-bhushan-s-land-in-himachal-asks-congress-277613

http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/HimachalPradesh/Probe-Prashant-Bhushan-land-purchase-in-HP/Article1-941963.aspx

Quotes from the articles :-

1. "Under Himachal Pradesh's land laws, only the state's permanent residents can buy land in the state. Others who want to purchase land for non-agricultural purposes have to seek relaxation under Section 118."

2. "Congress president Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Vadra and lawyer Prashant Bhushan are among 881 outsiders who were allowed to buy land in the past three years in Himachal Pradesh, Revenue Minister Kaul Singh said here Monday."

3. "According to the state's laws, land-use of a tea garden could not be changed as these are exempted under the ceiling act."

4. "Revenue Minister Gulab Singh, in reply to a question, told the state assembly in the last winter session "from Jan 1, 2008, to Nov 30, 2011, land use change" had been allowed under Section 118 of the Land Reforms and Tenancy Act to allow Kumud Bhushan Educational Society of Kandbari (in Kangra district) for purchasing tea gardens. He said the society was run by Prashant Bhushan."

5. "According to a judicial commission report, which probed 'benami' (illegal) land transactions in the state from 2003 to 2011, it came to notice that land use of tea estates has been permitted by the state government without invoking the provision of the land ceiling act.
Justice D.P. Sood, former judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, headed the commission and submitted his 147-page report to the government last April."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We leave the Indian public to now arrive at conclusion about this duo, who are part of "Aam Admi party", supposedly a party meant to fight corruption.
